This book is everything I have been looking for in an herbal book for 10 years! How did I not know about this book?? For my Master Clinical Herbalist class there are several required books I have to read and submit a review for. I thought it might be a great idea to share my reviews here as well in case someone else is looking for a new herbal book. I hope you find this treasure of a book before searching 10 years like I did!
The first book I chose to read for my course was The Herbal Medicine Maker's Handbook, By: James Green. The title is self-explanatory! Every chapter in this book is about a different way of preparing herbal formulas such as salves, infused oils, extracts, tinctures, poultices and MORE!
It not only tells you how to make them, but it also breaks down the herb to menstruum ratios in multiple ways. I like to work with exact measurements when making herbal formulas so this made me VERY happy to see.
James Green did a fantastic job explaining methods of preparation in several ways for you to understand. I found it easy for the concepts to stick the way he broke it down with examples. This is consistent through every chapter in the book.
I truly enjoyed this book and I’m going to read it 1,000 more times till I have it memorized!
